Richard Hollingshead
The Architect of the Flame.
Richard Hollingshead (Albuquerque, NM) is a self-taught master of borosilicate glass, celebrated for his ability to merge architectural precision with organic fluidity. Since 2000, he has developed a dual mastery that few artists achieve: the structural engineering required for his signature "Hollow" vessels, and the delicate, controlled chaos of his solid floral implosions.
His work is defined by an obsession with detail. Whether executing the mathematical rhythm of a "wig-wag" pattern or building a multi-layered flower petal by petal, Hollingshead’s glass is flawlessly terminated and optically clear. Many of the works in this curated collection feature reactive elements, revealing a hidden, luminescent dimension when viewed under ultraviolet light.
