The Golden Supernova 2"

Sale price$255.00

The Object A study in brilliance, this Kevin O'Grady Vortex feels less like glass and more like a captured celestial event.

The interior walls of this sphere are densely packed with thousands of microscopic dichroic metallic inclusions. The effect is a "Supernova" of light, a blindingly bright field of gold and bronze sparkles that radiate from the center vortex. Unlike his smoother, scale-patterned works, this piece relies on a high-density stippling technique that causes the marble to "ignite" when hit with direct light.

As you rotate the sphere, the granular texture shifts and shimmers, creating a kinetic energy that mimics the surface of a star. The termination at the base provides a dark, contrasting anchor to the explosive brightness of the walls.

The Artist Kevin O'Grady (Roswell, NM) is widely recognized as the "Father of the Vortex." Since 1993, he has pushed the boundaries of the medium, developing proprietary techniques to create marbles with "impossible" depth. His work is held in major museum collections and is prized for its clean optical termination and heavy use of precious metals.
